Last night I had a bright idea (if I do say so myself). I was on my way to the checkout stand at Target with some emergency bananas and dental floss in my little basket when I said to myself, “Self, let’s take a quick look at the beauty aisle.”
As soon as I turned the corner, one of the first things I spotted was Sonia Kashuk’s new A Powerful Punch Mini Nail Colour Set ($9.99), and whoops! — it accidentally fell into my basket.
The limited edition set, new for spring 2012, comes with four petite polishes — three brights and one neutral — all of them with creamy finishes.
Here are some swatches from this afternoon. For each of these, I used two coats…
Making Waves
Tutti Fruitti
Ooh La La
Khaki Shorts
Observations…
- The three brightest shades are packed with pigment. I don’t notice any streaks when I apply them, either, but I do detect some minor streaking from the tan shade, Khaki Shorts. I think that one also benefits from a third coat.
- Making Waves is probably my favorite of the four. It’s just so cheerful and bright.
- All four of these polishes dry to a super shiny finish.
I’m really digging this arrangement of colors; all of them seem to go together nicely, and I can’t wait to try some of the pairings on my fingers and toes. And maybe even a multi-colored mani.
PRICE: $9.99 for the set
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Target stores (I didn’t see them online)
